AFT-WV members from all over the state traveled to Charleston on April 1st to attend a rally in support of the United Mine Workers of America battle to save health care benefits for their retirees.

Charleston, WV – At today’s PEIA Finance Board meeting, employees were saved from the benefit cuts that were proposed for the next fiscal year. Only moments prior to the meeting, Governor Tomblin committed an additional $4 million to prevent these benefit reductions, which included huge increases on specialty drugs and additional out of pocket costs, penalizing the sickest and most vulnerable people in the plan.
During the 2012 AFT-WV Legislative Retreat, AFT members from across the state gathered in Charleston to prioritize the union's legislative agenda. The recommendations from the retreat are compiled and prepared for final approval during the AFT-WV Convention.
