New AFT member benefit helps simplify student debt

Summer: Simplifying student debt
You no longer have to manage your student loans alone …

We hear about it all the time in our student debt clinics: Our members who are struggling to pay off their student loan debt simply don’t know who to turn to for help. Student loan servicers like Navient have given them bad information, fly-by-night companies are scamming borrowers out of hundreds of dollars to fill out a few forms, and public officials are in no hurry to hold loan servicers or third-party scams accountable.

New Benefit for AFT Members

Trauma Coverage for AFT members

AFT members work hard—now more than ever—to educate, heal, help and serve our communities. Sometimes our own stress is compounded by a personal or workplace trauma; still, we struggle to be fully present for others. Now the AFT is offering a new, free benefit—Trauma Coverage—to provide help and healing for our members, whenever needed, wherever a member may be.

New FREE benefit for AFT members

The AFT is launching a free benefit to protect members against identity theft—the fastest-growing crime in America. We have partnered with CLC ID Protect to offer all members, including retirees, an ID Threat Score as well as assistance in the event you are a victim of identity theft.

Members who register for the free benefit will have an opportunity to purchase additional comprehensive individual or family ID theft protection. These upgraded services include 24/7 credit monitoring, $1 million of ID theft insurance, enhanced fraud and credit resolution services, and more.

Increased AD &D benefits for members

Effective Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017 every active, working member of our union will have increased insurance coverage—at no cost to you!

The accidental death and dismemberment insurance policy has been increased from $25,000 to $36,250. As one of the valuable benefits of AFT membership, AFT and AFT-WV locals pay for this coverage for ALL eligible members of the AFT. Retired members are not eligible for this benefit.

Free Insurance Coverage Available for AFT-WV Members

New members are eligible for $5,000 in free life insurance for one year. This is only availible to new members and must be activated by completing a form within your first 12 months of membership. After the first year this policy is very affordable.

Insurance Discounts for AFT-WV members

AFT-West Virginia has developed partnership with Liberty Mutual Insurance to allow all AFT-WV members to be eligible for a special discounted group rate. Members will receive 15% off their auto and homeowners premiums in addition to personalized service, 24-hour claims service, and 24-hour roadside assistance for auto policy holders.

For more information and a free, no obligation quote, call Steve Adams at 1-800-279-1387 or visit Liberty Mutual's website.
