How will the PEIA crisis affect your community?

PEIA, the Public Employees Insurance Agency, provides health insurance for our state’s public employees and insures over 210,000 West Virginians.

The proposed PEIA benefit cuts will cost public employees tens of thousands of dollars in new out-of-pocket health care costs. Teachers, school service personnel, police officers, department of highways, DHHR and all other public employees will be affected by these cuts. These workers, our friends and neighbors, could face the choice of buying medication or groceries. The WV Legislature has the power to fix this crisis by adequately funding PEIA.

What does this mean to your community?

Working families will have less money to support the things we care about and make our communities great places to live. Frankly, these cuts will devastate our communities. Organizations like our local volunteer fire departments, food pantries, churches, youth recreation/sports programs and local businesses will all suffer.

How can you help?

Talk to members of your church, civic groups, youth leagues and local business owners. Explain how the PEIA crisis will hurt them and the importance of uniting as a community on this issue. Ask them to contact their local legislators and explain how the PEIA crisis will cut deep in the heart of West Virginia communities.

Take action today to ensure a tomorrow for all our communities!
