The 15th annual AFT-WV Summer School was held June 28- July 2, 2010 at Camp Dawson in Kingwood, WV. It was the largest summer institute ever, boasting over 185 participants who shared a week of fun and fellowship.
The 2010 AFT-WV Legislative Retreat kicked off with a reception on Friday, Aug. 27th, where AFT-WV leaders and members from across the state joined for an evening of fun and fellowship. The AFT-WV executive board also met that evening to conduct regular monthly business.
On Saturday morning, it was back to business for the activists, who discussed and determined AFT-WV's goals for the 2011 legislative session. This meeting serves as a great forum to debate what issues the organization needs to address legislatively. Democracy in action!
The participants will present their draft of the 2011 Legislative Agenda to delegates at the 2010 AFT-WV convention for their approval.
The annual AFT-WV convention was held Oct. 21-23 at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
The 2009 AFT-WV Convention was held Oct. 22-24 at Mountaineer Racetrack & Resort in Chester, WV. The event featured speakers, workshops, awards, and the election of state officers. Two new AFT locals, Braxton and Preston counties, were officially chartered during a dinner ceremony.
The WV AFL-CIO conventionwas held Oct. 7-8, 2009 in Charleston. AFT-WV had the largest group of delegates at the event, and AFT-WV president Judy Hale was elected as a vice-president of the WV AFL-CIO.
AFT-WV's retiree chapter met in Charleston in August of 2009 to discuss PEIA issues and legislative goals for the 2010 session.
Summer School 2009 was held July 6-10 at Camp Dawson in Kingwood, WV. Almost 150 AFT members spent the week learning in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
