Contact members of the House and ask them to oppose these bills:
SB 498 -This bill, deceptively named the Anti-Racism Act, is a last ditch effort to pass a reboot of HB 4011, the Anti-Stereotyping Act, which did not advance from committee. The bill, while slightly less egregious than the House version, still could potentially hamstring educators from teaching accurate, unbiased history. Additionally, the complaint process lacks due process protections for educators.
The 2021 Legislative Session has concluded. While we were the target of some major attacks, we were able to dodge a few bad bills.

The 2021 Legislative Session has been under way for only ten days but we have already seen a flurry of attacks on public education and employees.

Just a little over two weeks into the 2021 Legislative Session and the bills attacking public education and employees continue to move.
Two bills now moving through the state Legislature could drain half a billion a year from our public schools. That’s one-quarter of the total state education budget for our schools for fiscal year 2019-2020. It could mean the loss of up to 3,000 full-time teaching and service personnel positions.
Our schools are starved for funding already. These bills would threaten the very future of public education in our state.
We're halfway through the 2021 Legislative Session and the attacks on public education and workers have ramped up this week. Bills to permit education savings accounts and to prohibit the payroll deduction of union dues are moving quickly.
**UPDATE: HB 2009 passed the House on 3-19-21, after the Legislative Update was published.
The House of Delegates approved the version of HB 2009 sent back to them by the Senate last week, effectively ending payroll deduction of union dues for public employees.
