On Monday, March 3rd, HB 2187 was on the House Education Committee agenda for discussion and questions. HB 2187 would permit teachers and school employees in K-12 schools be authorized to carry concealed firearms (as well as tasers and/or pepper spray) as a designated school protection officer.

🚨🚨Public Hearing tomorrow morning (1-24-24)🚨🚨

The Judiciary Committee will host a public hearing on HB 4654 at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, Jan. 24th in the House Chamber.

While appearing to prohibit schools, libraries and museums from distributing obscene material, many believe HB 4654 attempts to criminalize librarians, teachers and museum curators for making available certain books or artwork.

According to a news release issued Monday by House Democrats, this could include the Bible, biographies of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Roberto Clemente, and Michelangelo’s statue of David.

Action Needed Now (3-4-25) on SB 154! 

Contact the Senate and OPPOSE this bill for these reasons:

  • This bill would affect school employee rights regarding disciplinary action and grievance rights in relation to gender-related complaints. 
  • We have concerns that this bill could also morph into an all-out attack on the full grievance procedure.
